The Beaches
- Patong Beach It is located only 15 km
from the provincial town. Patong Beach is the most popular beach of
Phuket which is a big choice of accommodation from luxurious hotels
to palm cottages, a host of restaurants and shops, all kinds of
aqua-sport equipment and numerous places of night-time
entertainment, recreation, including enchanting transvestite cabaret
shows.
- Rawai Beach is a good beach where
people live and where several restaurants serve different styles of
seafood to even better prices. This is a perfect place to have lunch
and dinner.
- Naiyang and Naihan Beach is also a popular
anchorage during the dry season for bigger sail and boats. During
the wet seasons there are high waves so swimming is not recommended.
- Kata and Karon Beach Kata Beach is the
smallest beach of Phuket. Karon Beach is the second largest of
Phuket. Kata and Karon offer the same feel for a traveler. They are
more peaceful than Patong retaining a village feel at both their
northern and southern ends. They are next to Patong in size where
large resort complexes line the road behind the shoreline. You can
come from Kata to Karon easily by road or by a path along the coast.
- Kamala Beach is located about 7-8 km
from Patong Beach. It is called the sunset beach; thousands during
the peak season come to view the sunset. It is also suitable for
swimming, snorkeling and other water sport activities.
- Bangthao Beach is a large open bay
of Phuket's longest beaches. It is a gentle slope and absolutely
pure white sandy beach with rows of caesarian trees. It is also
occupied by the Laguna complex. There are accommodations available
outside Laguna the bay's southern end.
- Surin Beach is a good beach to see
beautiful sunset of Phuket. Swimming is not suggested because of
strong tides and waves. Surin Beach is the second stop on the north
beach safari and a good place for lunch. Maikhao Beach or Airport
Beach is a white sandy beach with crystal clear water. During the
rainy seasons, the wind brings big waves and strong currents making
it dangerous to swim. During the month of February, sea turtles come
ashore to lay their eggs on the sand. Naiyang Beach is where the Nai
Yang National Park offices are located. It is also a place for
swimming, snorkeling and a good place to see sea turtles laying eggs
from November to February.
